The moral authority on marriage?

written by ekg

..and just who would that be? Why,Bristol Palin of course. The unwed, teenage pregnancy, mother of one. She,of course is the arbiter of morality when it pertains to this issue. As an example of her sage wisdom, she says that childern need a father’s influence to be well adjusted.

“we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview.”

ok, well not her kid. Just everyone elses. Her kid doesn’t need to see its father, but ofcourse it wouldn’t, she is a Palin and they are real Americans ya know.

Here’s why my ass is chapped..I get it, Obama said he thinks, for himself, gays should be able to live like the human Americans they are, and be allowed to marry like white folk.. er, real folk..instead of having to jump the broom..uh, I mean get a notarized letter saying they can make decisions for their loved one..and to counter this postiton… Cnn gives us..

Bristol Palin..

What the fuck??

Why in the hell is anyone putting this numskulls words up?.. and why in the fuck are they put up opposite of the President of the Unites States like she is somehow his equal, somehow more knowing and worldlier and we should take hers as if from some old wisdom that has been lost and only recently found..This person is 21 years old, she is known only because she was the unwed,knocked-up, teenage daughter of a Vice Presidential candidate in a failed Presidential campaign. Kim Kardashian or Lindsey Lohan have more to say that this ijit. But now, CNN is using two opposing opinions on gay marriage, the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama.. vs.. Bristol Fucking Palin like she’s some wonderment we should hear from when she speaks, and by God, somewhere out there is the mad mad mad world of ours someone is saying, right now, “Of course she’s his equal and should be taken not with a grain salt, but as manna from Heaven.” “Sarah and Bristol Palin 2012!”

and if I’m sure if I cared to watch Fox news tonight, I’d see that someone…

What the hell is wrong with us? Over a Black man?

We’ve lost our fucking minds.

Can we get a refund?

written by ekg

That’s it, I’m done. I’ve used this product for almost 2 years now and have found it to be lacking each and every time I’ve counted on it. When I saw the advertisements for it I thought to myself “Well, that sounds pretty good, I think I’ll try it” then whipped out my credit card and paid for it. I know I know, I should have remembered the old adage “If it’s too good to be true…blah-blah-blah” but it was just so damn appealing! I couldn’t help it and neither, it seems, could 69 million other people!

So what product did we all buy into that has turned out to be a dud?

Barack Obama!

Now listen, I’m not saying John McCain would have been any better. In fact the more I see of him and his confused, mentally incompetent and extremely angry running mate the more sure I am of that simple fact. But that doesn’t mean Barack Obama is the God-send he was supposed to be. To be honest, one thing that would have been a nice change if McCain and Palin had won would that we could actually see something getting done instead of a President selling his own ideas, his party’s idea’s and his and his party leaders nuts to the lowest bidder. Say what you want about George Bush (and I have), but he sure as hell got stuff done… just not the stuff any rational person wanted done. But now, instead of being stuck with a President that rolls over anyone in his way, we have a President who rolls over for anyone in his way.

Don’t like his health care, it’s ok he’ll drop the most important part of it.

Don’t like his stimulus plan? No problem, he’ll give you the tax breaks you want, ask for less money than he needs and he’ll let you call it all “Obama’s Radical Socialist Agenda” while you secretly take the funds from him anyway because you know that your state couldn’t survive without those funds.

Don’t believe in science or climate change? Well that’s ok, he does believe in it but to make you happy he’ll end all hopes of anything ‘Green’ coming from this liberal white  house.

Over and over, again and again, this president hasn’t proved he wants bipartisanship legislation , he’s proved he want Conservative Republican only legislation! With a 60 vote majority in the Congress, overwhelming public support on his side, some of the largest ‘political capitol’ for an incoming president in a generation  and he’s done nothing more than give up on every promise he ever made. Next on the auction block are the Bush Tax cuts, that will kill this country if we  reauthorize them for every level of income and   repeal of Don’t ask, Don’t tell.

$5 trillion is what extending those tax cuts to include the richest 1% of this country will cost. For 10 years that segment saw an average of $100,000 in tax relief while the average American family  saw $500. No jobs were created, the deficit exploded, we borrowed money from every crazy uncle we could find in the family… but hey, let’s do it again because this President can’t seem to say no to the Republican party as well as he can say no to his own party.

Military leaders say DADT is antiquated and they want it changed, the majority of American say they want it changed, when polled, an overwhelming majority of currently enlisted service men and women say they’re ok with it changing so of course when one Republican balks at the idea because of his own bigoted agenda, Barack Obama caves in and shelves repealing one of the most ridiculous laws to ever come out of Congress.

Nukes! Nukes and the non- proliferation of them is something we can agree on right? We can all, Republican and Democrat agree that if we could have an agreement with Russia over nuclear weapons, well  that would be a good thing. I mean, seriously who wants the Russians to have a run on nuclear weapons like they have promised, if we can prevent it?

Enter “No Comprise” Republicans and “Give them what they want” Obama! and before long we’ll be hearing “Treaty? What Treaty?”

But, Vladimir Putin did call anyone who wouldn’t ratify this START treaty “dumb” and what kind of bipartisan president would Obama be if he allowed a foreign leader to say that about his favorite party?

Yesterday, after meeting with the incoming Republican leadership President Obama said

“The president acknowledged he needed to do better,” Gibbs said.

Umm.. better at what?

Obama told the lawmakers that he needed to do more to reduce the partisan tone in Washington, press secretary Robert Gibbs said later. The president said he plans to hold additional talks in Washington and at Camp David with lawmakers of both parties.

Yes, well.. of course. He needs to do better at reducing the partisan tone. Rep. Joe Barton on the other hand, well he can say

“Speaker Boehner is our Dwight Eisenhower in the battle against the Obama Administration. Majority Leader Cantor is our Omar Bradley. I want to be George Patton – put anything in my scope and I will shoot it.”

Implying of course, as the The Washington Post’s Al Kamen says

If the Obama administration was hoping to see hints of bipartisanship from the Hill, it might want to skip over the House Energy and Commerce Committee

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell sent a letter to Harry Reid this morning letting him know that 100% of the Senate Republicans have decided to block any and all Democrat legislation until they get what they want.

Yes, yes I see where Obama needs to do more to end all this silly partisan stuff.

I want a refund damn it! I’m tired of fighting for a President who will not fight for himself and who will actually throw me under the bus if it gets him a vocal promise of support, even when he knows that when it comes down to it, that vocal promise doesn’t mean shit. I’m tired of watching the policies my party believes in being shelved or butchered beyond recognition  before there is even a chance to see where the other, minority side will compromise on. We were promised a fighter and we gave him a 60 vote majority to help him! We were standing there behind him, telling him what we wanted, what we expected… WE were the people we have been waiting for, but you Mr. President are not the President we have been waiting for!

He didn’t slam you or bump you. He rubbed you. Rubbing is racing.

written by ekg

Thank you Rush, Glen, Sarah.  Thank you Fox news,Drudge and Liz Cheney. Thank you Joe Wilson,Chuck Grassley, and Michelle Bachman. Most of all, thank you John McCain.  Because of the sum total of your greed, bias, paranoia and political agenda, one of the highest ranking officers and his inner circle felt it was OK to make fun of and de- legitimize this President, Vice President and those this administration assigned the task of keeping this country safe and winning a unwinnable war.  If Gen. McChrystal felt safe enough to speak about his superiors the way he did in front of a stranger, a civilian outsider… a reporter for a liberal magazine, just how free were they in front of other officers, military personal and soldiers at the front with their disdain?

We know now that John McCain would sell the “maverick” off his back to win an election, but in the summer of 2008 that wasn’t as apparent.  Sure, we knew he wanted to win the election that year, what we didn’t know was just how far he was willing to go, not until he tapped Sarah Palin.  Sarah was a no body in the world of politics, she was a hot Governor who had a certain backwoods charm about her, but she was unschooled, unconventional and as it turned out unpredictable. She was also willing to go after her opponent in any “Dick Cheney” way she was told to.

NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 25: Republican vice-pres...
Image by Getty Images via @daylife

As with any other Vice Presidential candidate she was tasked with the job of being the attack-dog of the campaign. The  Presidential candidate cannot be the one to blatantly attack his rival, its  unbecoming of the image he is trying to put forth. A gentlemen, a statesmen, a leader can not be seen as petty and whiny, it makes him look weak and unfitting of the title President of the United States, so the Vice Presidential candidate has traditionally been tasked with the job of being the ‘pit bull’ who attacks his foe.

Enter Sarah.

I don’t blame Sarah too much for the type of politician she’s turned out to be because she sadly never had a chance. She was a small town girl thrust into the biggest arena on the planet. One night she was an unknown and the next minute she was historic. Every eye in this country (and a vast number outside this country) was looking at this newcomer and wondering “who was she”, “what can she offer”,  and more than anything else “What the fuck?”

Over the next few days it turned out that it wasn’t just the rest of us who didn’t know a thing about her, but the campaign that tapped her was clueless also. But by that time who cared, she was hot! Her wink, her smile, her red-bloodedness. The GOP salivated at the possibilities… could she deliver ? That answer was a straight up, resounding.. You Betcha!

From pal’ing around with terrorists, to “Thanks, but no thanks!” they loved her.   There was a visceral reaction to the Democrat candidate,  his name and his color struck a deep chord in people. I’m not going to argue that, those who know it, know it. Those who ignore it, ignore it.Those who don’t see it it, never will. But it was there and Sarah tapped into that. She outright lied about her “No Thanks” to the bridge to no where and what was the reaction? “Who cares! Leave the woman alone and stop attacking her! Did you see her wink?” Very early on the campaign learned that this woman could say what she wanted and it didn’t matter. People loved her and would accept her word as gospel and then defend her against anyone or anything that tried to correct her. She very quickly became untouchable.

“We want to fight,

and I will fight,

but we will be respectful.

I admire Senator Obama

and his accomplishments

and I will respect him,”

McCain said at a Minnesota rally.

I’m not going to rehash her campaign rhetoric, we know what her  job was and how well she did it. She was the attack dog who started the process of  de- legitimizing the President and forever tainting him as a Muslim, a friend of the terrorist, a Socialist. Like any child who is given praise for doing something well that an adult rehearsed with them, she learned to take it farther and farther. It was never meant to go as far as it did, but she’s just so damn cute when she does it so why would we stop her?

Even though Sarah Palin took on big oil and the result was a redistribution of their wealth to the pockets of every Alaskan, it was  Barack Hussein Obama who was the enemy of democracy. At one point, it looked like John McCain might have actually come to his senses and realized what he was allowing was the same thing that had been done to him by George W Bush and ‘illegitimate black child’ attack he waged against McCain during his first run at office. All of a sudden, it was like he stepped up and once again became the Maverick we could be proud of when he corrected a woman in his audience who was afraid of that “Arab”. But shortly after that, he once again threw the maverick off his back, never to don that title again.

“I want everyone to be respectful

and let’s make sure we are,

because that is the way that politics

should be conducted in

America.”-John McCain

And so it went.. the socialist, the Nazi, the racist, the Muslim Arab who was not even born in this country was elected. But the process of taking him down didn’t stop there, it only intensified. For a brief moment there, after the flubbing at the swearing in process.. there was actually hope that he could be ignored as the voice of authority in this county because he didn’t say the oath of office properly. Yes! We’re saved! He didn’t swear the oath, he is not the real president, we do not have to listen to him! But, like everything else.. this was taken from Obama’s opponents when he re-took the oath the next day.

It’s interesting to look back on now, it seems on that night in November a section of the population looked around and said.. Oh God, what have we done! Since then everything that can be done, has been done to take away any power this president had.  We watched as a lowly congressman was cheered when he heckled the president at an address before Congress. We’ve watched our most popular conservative voices call him a racist, and speak of his ‘regime’ and then rewarded them for it. We’ve seen everything from his ears, his use of a teleprompter to his impressive education as reasons for contempt for him. In 2004 “Flip-Flop” was a political death sentence. Since the rise of Sarah Palin though, the practice of being one both sides of an issue(sometimes at the same time on different networks) has become a staple in this country.Extremism and Conspiracy were words used to belittle and negate liberals now they are mainstream and visionary.   Who cares if you agree that there are Death Panels and plugs to pull on grandma, who cares if you want to criminalize the census  while pounding away at Washington to follow the Constitution because the census is taking concentration camp RSVP’s, who cares if you scream YOU LIE at the leader of the country when it’s really you who are lying.  Who cares! Leave them alone, stop it with the “Gotcha media”.. we don’t care if they are lying this guy is an Arab who pals around with terrorists for God’s sake!

This long and winding road we’ve been on has a new victim. Stanley Allen McChrystal, one of the most disciplined men in uniform. The man who sleeps for just 4 hours a night, jogs 8 miles a day rain or shine and eats only one meal… This career officer, who graduated from West Point, who spent his entire adult life in the military, was the son of a career military father was  so confident in his position, and the stability of the “who cares, it’s the gotcha media who is at fault for not investigation the birth certificate of this ineligible presidency”crowd that he went on record and trashed his superior officers in a civilian liberal magazine.   Either that, or he just didn’t know what he was saying was wrong and didn’t understand the person in the room with him was writing it all down.

No, I just don’t believe he didn’t know. I believe that he’s watched  how over the last 18+ months, this President from his speech patterns to his birth place has been  reduced to a either a powerless, naive, community organizer who is dangerously incapable of leadership or he is a tyrant, destroying the very fabric of this country and should thus be revolted against. I believe the General felt he would be insulated the same way he was insulated when he covered up the fratricidal death of Pat Tillman and protected the same way he was protected when he extorted 30,000 troops from the President. He was given carte blanche by the people who didn’t care how outrageous the attack was, as long as it made into  the Foxnews channel and conservative talk shows conversation. He  was emboldened by all those before him and while he should be hanging in head in shame for the dismissal of the president and his advisers in a time of war, on the eve  of a ‘make or break’ offensive he is instead exalted as the newly crowned Prince of the Right.  McChrystal/Palin 2012 prayers are already out on the blogsophere.  You don’t have to scroll through but a very few comments on any article dealing with this issue before you see the  ignorant ramblings of the ‘we don’t care, he’s an Arab!” crowd.

  • it’s funny when some 1 supposed to be [sic]cammander  and chief knows nothing about military are anything else and has to be told what to say and do by his advisers can hold a position as he does? all he’s good at is flapping his mouth. i’m glad this general spoke his mind. so what his in the military he still has a voice and opinion. this ’so call’ code come on.
  • Big, big mistake. Obama’s inability to accept criticism demonstrates the fragility of his leadership abilities. This move suggests that Obama and his team will not tolerate opposing viewpoints on matters that are crucial to our national security. At least the man will be a “one-termer.”
  • Obama looks like the tiny, petulant dictator that many of us have suspected he is all along. His theatrical bombast about General McChrystal just proves that Obama’s a tiny, incompetent fool.
  • McChrystal gets the last laugh, because so many of us see what he and so many of our military see–that their “commander in chief” commands absolutely nothing,

The same people who are screaming about tyranny and the dictator that is this president are saluting and celebrating the military general who belittled his civilian commanders in magazine article. The words “Forgive them Father, they know not what they do” ring through air and are ironically missed by the ones who devote their life to speaker of those words.

General McChrystal is another victim of the “Gotcha Media”. The Hannity’s out there are more upset with him for giving an interview to someone other than themselves than they are in what he said. They’ve skipped over the subtle implications of what was said and absolute destruction of the moral of the soldier fighting in this war. They can’t see how the words “clown and intimidated” when spoken by the military leader about the civilian authority can pit one soldier against the other and give fodder to our enemy to use to their advantage. They can’t see it because they just don’t care. They want this Muslim, Marxists out of power because Sarah told them how Barack Hussein,  pal’ed around with terrorists.

I’m not saying that I think Sarah Palin made Gen. McChrystal give that interview. I’m saying that people were starting to wake up around the end of 2006 and look around and get pretty unhappy with what they were seeing. Coming awake ‘07-’08 during a continuous campaign season like they had been Rip Van Winkle for 10 years and finding their lives were going to shit, their jobs were non-existent, the houses they were told they could re-mortgage into a better loan were defaulting.  Banks were giving their CEO’s millions of dollars in bonus’ while their secretaries   and janitors were applying for welfare. They didn’t trust anyone anymore.  All that was needed was something to light the fuse that had been laying there waiting to be lit. Sarah Palin was it, in her they saw what they thought they wanted from their leaders and they were willing to ignore every lie she told and believe like it was gospel every exaggeration she spewed forth with because they want so badly for her to be genuine. Palin was just as much of a victim as they were. She was told that it was her job to become the pit bull, only no one told her that didn’t mean she was to be the pit-bull rabies and a thorn in it’s foot. She was a n00b to the Big Show and was just never able to learn the rules of the game, the only rule she knew was simply ‘Rubbin is racing’.  With her though, came an era where politicians are belittled and lied about, that part is not new but it has been amplified to the point were even the military feels they are no longer subservient to their civilian commanders. The scariest part of all of this is that these same people will break the rules that this country was founded on for anyone who they feel agrees with them, hears them, listens and will help them. They are babes waiting to be exploited.  The next generation will either be the last or the greatest of this country.  We will either break every rule, code and constitutional freedom we’ve fought long and hard for in the hopes of creating the unattainable Utopia  we had when we were children and someone else took of things for us, or we’ll shake out it and come together; putting the mistrust, the cynicism and the anger away and somehow become greater than we’ve ever dreamed of. Rome attained greatness and withered away, England did the same…the question we have to answer is, will we?

Dear John…

written by ekg

JohnD from  www.armedrobbery.blogspot.com/ left this comment on my blog the other day..

Interesting post, EKG. It’s nice to see the left has found a new target for its vitriol now that George W. Bush is out of the picture.

“Mass movements can rise and spread without belief in a God, but never without belief in a devil.”

-Eric Hoffer, THE TRUE BELIEVER (1951)

I’m sure Palin-bashing is a pleasant distraction from President Obama’s serial failures. At the very least, hatred for her has provided the faithful with a rallying point.

I ignored his glossing over of President Obama being a target of vitriol himself and  asked him to enumerate Obama’s ’serial failures’.  His reply was

Failure to get his health care bill and Waxman/Markey passed, even with total Democratic control of Congress; extraordinarily high unemployment rates; a rapidly rising deficit (over and above what was “inherited”); failure to close Guantanamo; take your pick. You can throw in failure to secure the Olympics for Chicago and declining poll numbers too.

as I started to answer him, I realized that these questions and answers deserve more space than the comments section of another blog-post. So I decided to answer them here….

First off, John.. I don’t know you. I don’t know if you are an extreme right winger, I don’t know if you are unbend-able in your opinions, I don’t know if you tow the party line no matter where it takes you. I know you are a friend of Mike’s, but I don’t know if you are as obstinately against looking at things from another perspective as he is or not. Because of this… uncertainty, I am answering with the assumption that you can see a different way of viewing things if shown, or explained.. I’m assuming that you are moderate and not hard-extreme like Mike.

No one likes to be blamed and no one likes their party to be blamed… but no one likes the other party to actually be at fault and share none of the blame and instead pile it all on one side. Of course I am going to place blame with the GOP on many issues, what I will wait to see from your reply to this is if you can see why I would blame them.. maybe not that you agree that they are to blame for alot of it, but maybe..hopefully.. you will admit that they do share, alot, in what is going on today. This is not a ‘well he did it first’ kind of blame. I believe I am laying out a valid argument. I hope to get more than “well you did it first” or the condescending  “LOL” and  “eyerolls” from you in your reply.

Now, on with the blog.

I agree with you John, it is Obama’s failure that Health reform has stagnated. He took it on faith that when Grassley, Snowe and other (R) said they were willing to work on a bi-partisan  solution, they meant it. The rest of us were hearing Grassley call it a ‘death panel’ and how people should fear Obama’s health reform and how he’d never vote for it when he was home on the weekends, but the ‘bubble’ Obama lives in, the same that all Presidents live in, prevented him from hearing that “weekend, rally the base” talk.

I don’t think it was until Lieberman’s extreme, blatant and almost joyful bragging of this ‘partisan ‘obstruction’ that Obama finally wised up. When Lieberman, who just a few years ago ran on his “medcare for 55″ policy and was saying everywhere he could that this was the only solution he would support…immediately turned against it because, as he  said,  ‘well since liberals like my plan, I’m against it now’,  I think the President started seeing what he was up against, and what he was up against was illogical and unreasonable opposition. Do you atleast agree that Lieberman’s flip on his own idea and the reason he gave, prove this illogical and unreasonable position?

Even if you don’t think it was illogical or unreasonable, how can you fault President Obama for not getting things done in that kind of atmosphere? We aren’t talking about anything rational that can be explained or even expected. Republicans  and that includes Lieberman(I), were turning on their own plans, things they had campaigned on, the second after President Obama said “Hey, you know what.. your way does sound better so let’s include it”

Rising deficit

On Jan. 7, 2009, two weeks before Obama took office, the CBO reported the deficit was projected to be $1.2 trillion

At least  you gave blame to Bush for the 1.2 trillion of it..

The CBO – which provides the official estimates of the budgetary impact of legislation and events such as wars and recessions – cites the housing market collapse and the financial market turmoil as the main culprits for the shortfall. The federal government has tried to combat the crisis by so far committing $7.2 trillion in investments and loans primarily to financial institutions.

The current recession “will probably be the longest and the deepest since World War II,” the CBO said. The economic deterioration since September, which was the last time CBO made deficit projections, is the biggest contributor to a sharp decline in tax revenue projections. The CBO expects tax revenue in 2009 to fall by $166 billion, or 6.6%, from the previous year’s collection.

That revenue decline, in turn, is the biggest reason for the worsening outlook over the next decade, said Diane Lim Rogers, chief economist at the Concord Coalition, a deficit watchdog group. “The revenue effect is huge.”

and Obama does own his own share.. But we know that he does not ‘own’ the entire  problem. Why is it then that he is saddled with it? Where was this outcry of ‘budget deficits’ going back 3 years and more? How is this President Obama’s doing? He added to what was there yes, but what was the alternative when he stepped into the Oval on day one? You and I along with McCain and so so many others, know that had he won, McCain would have had to do the same exact things Obama did and would have had the same exact deficit today.. This really isn’t an Obama issue.. we all know this but since it’s going on under his watch-he gets the blame..Ok fine, but then we do have to put blame on the person who did create it.  No, this isn’t a “he did it so I can to” this is a ‘I really had nothing to do with all of it, so stop blaming it all on me argument and that is based in reality, not GOP partisan amnesia and fantasy.

When Obama stepped into office he had to deal with 2 unpaid wars, unpaid tax cuts, a wall street collapse, a housing market collapse, an infrastructure that had been neglected for 10 years. The Bush budget deficit projections never included the war price, when Obama put it into his, like it should have been done in the 1st place.. it didn’t help his numbers at all, but atleast it was honest. Unlike those who are supposed to give us ‘fair and balanced’ news..

During the April 3 edition of Fox News’ America’s Newsroom, on-screen text repeatedly falsely claimed that President Obama’s $3.6 trillion fiscal year 2010 budget is “4x bigger than Bush’s costliest plan.” However, President Bush submitted a $3.1 trillion budget for FY 2009. For FY 2008, Bush submitted a $2.9 trillion budget.

**Link to screen shot**

But Obama deserves the blame for all this hiding, collapse and the unpaid bills that all came due just a few short days before he came into office? Which turned out to be more than anyone.. anyone ever expected as more came to light in the coming days after his inauguration? If you truly feel this blames lays on President Obama’s lap, can you explain how you came to that decision?

High unemployment

Yes.. there is.. but you can’t look at 700,000 jobs lost per month when he got there to 11,000 in December 2009 and call that a failure.. and you can’t look at the numbers we were at, are still at now and expect it to change the next day.. or even the next year, not if you’re also not going to allow a larger stimulus bill/recovery act. So Obama was wrong on his optimism those 1st days that the unemployment numbers wouldn’t rise past a certain level, fine. But is he to blame that the numbers rose to that level or just to blame for not realizing just how bad things were a split second after he got there?

Is it the loss of jobs you blame him for or the bad prediction on jobs lost?

Like it, love it, hate it… when no one else is spending any money… the government has to. For the Government to also stop spending money is a catastrophe on a scale that we’ve never seen before. When no one, banks, businesses, people on the street are spending anything.. the government has to. It has to beg, borrow and yes, steal to spend money in order to get people spending money spending again. McCain,Romney,Huckabee.. Reagan.. all would have had no choice, given the exact same circumstance,  but to do the same. Or they would have watched while the country crumbled into oblivion the way Nero did. The ones like Mike, who argue that no, the government shouldn’t have spent a penny, can’t prove that their way would have been the right way or that we’d be any better off. They can’t prove it because there isn’t a time machine to take us back. So to me this argument is one of pure partisan fantasy. It cannot be proven and yet the GOP swears their way was the correct way. What’s worse is, they make 1/2 the country believe in this unprovable feary-tale. This is where the ‘faith’ and almost ‘religious like’ belief comes into play and it is the cornerstone of a lot of the GOP’s argument..

You can’t prove God doesn’t exist therefore he must be real.

They can’t prove no stimulus or Tarp would have worked better, therefore it must be true.

I call bullshit on both accounts… You want me to believe we shouldn’t have spent the money on the banks and on the recovery act, then prove it to me. Prove to me that not spending it would have worked better, that we would be in a better place, telling me  you are right only because you say so doesn’t work, I am not a believer in your religion I need more proof than that.

By the way, John.. Most of the “YOU” I use are not directed at YOU.. it is a general term used when speaking. I  hope you understand that.

Continuing on..

Failure to secure the Olympics?

Are you kidding? 1/2 the country didn’t want the Olympics

Forty-three percent (43%) of Americans say it’s a bad idea for President Obama to go overseas at this time to help Chicago make its final presentation to the International Olympic Committee

John Boehner blasted the President for trying to get them

“Listen I think it’s a great idea to promote Chicago but he’s the president of the United States, not the mayor of Chicago,” Boehner said. “And the problems we have here at home affect all Americans and that’s where his attention ought to be.”

and every night they were rewarded with their opinions by the likes of the GOP and Fox news telling them how bad it would crush us, how much money it would take, how horrible it would be. How dangerous Chicago is

Yes, Fox news is a factor when they have the massive viewer ratings they have, add them into Rush’s 20 million people a week rating and all of them chiming in on the evil that is the Olympics and why would we get it over a country literally begging to have to it because they want it?

But ok, Obama didn’t get the Olympics… that’s a failure on his part. But is that really something to hold against him? out of everything… is that an issue that truly pisses you off and just sticks in your craw?

Gitmo.

I’ve thought about this. Was Obama the naive one to think he could wave his ‘magic negro’ wand and close Gitmo? Or were we the naive ones to think he could wave his ‘magic negro’ wand and close Gitmo? I think it was both. I think a lot of us listened to his speeches and felt the inspiration and hope in that new era he talked about bringing. I think those of us who didn’t roll our eyes and didn’t decide that election night to do everything we possibly could to make his life hell and oppose everything.. everything he tried, actually believed this was the guy to change Rome back into the days of it’s purity, prosperity, glory and power. We (wrongly) assumed that Washington was also sick on the status quo, that Washington wanted to move on to a better place. That the country didn’t care if it was a Republican or Democrat, man or woman, black or white in office, we just wanted hope and change and not more of the same thing we had had for so long. We were all naive.

President Obama owns the failure to close Gitmo, but he doesn’t have sole ownership. Jesus, trust me I know it’s like a broken record to say the GOP also owns this since they stood in the way and did everything in the power to make sure 1/2 the country was against closing Gitmo and bringing the detainees here..but it is the truth. Through fear mongering and out right lies, GOP congressmen, governors, speakers, pundits went out to their communities , viewers, listeners and said “No way! Not in my yard, these guys are dangerous, these guys can’t be held in our prisons, these guys are super-powers that can only be controlled in Cuba” and we both know, hell we all know this is factually untrue. We are holding terrorists right now on our soil, we are holding terrorist right now in our prisons, we have been holding them for years. We are holding people who are worse! We, as Americans, have some of the most dangerous criminals in the world in our prisons right now. We have brain-eaters,baby-rapers,kidnappers,tortures,sex-slave traffickers ,abusers, bombers, pyromaniacs, serial killers, mass murders.. and we have extremely smart and devious   criminals like Madoff, Abramoff and hunderds of others. But somehow we’re ill equip to incarcerate men who have probably never had running water until they got to our prision camp?

That’s the most bogus of all feary-tales ever told. This idea that America is too weak, too incompetent and unable to imprison anyone is incredulous. If this is your belief, that we are just unable to rise to meet this ‘danger’ can you explain your reasoning to me, explain it without “Because they should be in a military tribunal”

All of this leads to a drop in polls.  You’ve seen the link to the numbers of Fox and just Rush, that doesn’t include Beck and all the other conservative radio. When  they are all, from top to bottom on the same line in the play book, all condemning, ridiculing, mocking, lying,inflating.. all giving out the worst of the wosrt bias, slanted partsian spin.. add that in with an entire section of Congress that doesn’t just stand in the way, but also makes up feary-tales and they believe it, polls are going to decline. How could they not?

And what about that anyway. Isn’t it normal for Presidential numbers to come back down to a reasonable level?

The other day I was reading the comments on a reputable news sources story about this Baradar capture, 75% of them were things like “Well, now that we can’t waterboard the guy the CIA will never get anything out him, Thanks Obama for ruining this country once again!” If the only tool in the CIA arsenal is waterboarding… then we really are fucked. Because it’s the opinion that begs the conclusion that the CIA has always and only water-boarded prisoners to get information and it was just the 2-3 years that they were legally allowed to that the were able to function at full capacity in the light of day. The point I’m making is, somehow people  think that CIA  doesn’t know how to get information from anyone without waterboarding them? Is this not the most insane thing you’ve ever seen? Why is this?Where did they get the idea that this was the only tool the CIA had? If  you can truthfully answer that, they you should be able to understand most, if not all of what it is I’m trying to show you.

Who is to blame for this? Not Obama.. but it is what he must fight against. The problem is you cannot argue with someone with that mindset. Their belief is again, religous like.. and cannot be changed, altered or enlightened.

Finally, I saved the best for last… “even with the democrats in control of congress”.. This is the most used response that I  see for pretty much everything. This idea that just because the Democrats had a filibuster  proof margine and didn’t use and some how it’s their fault is ridiculous . Listen, I’m going to tell you a secret that could get my liberal-card revoked ( :) )  unlike the GOP, there are different levels of (D). We don’t all think with one brain, we don’t all follow the leader like a flock of birds, that is what makes us ‘liberal’ or the favorite slam of the GOP, ‘radical’ . We think for ourselves and decide accordingly and not according to party/leader doctrine. We are just not that  ‘religious-like’ in our faith and the following of party ‘dogma’. There are Democrats who don’t believe in abortion, there are some like me who believe in the death penalty and guns rights. To condem anyone.. any party  for not just towing the party-line is asinine  and to blindly follow the party-line used to be a bad thing.. but today, with the entire GOP saying “You can’t even get your party to all vote the same way and use that fillibuster proof majority” is so exquisitely  sad, but still not as sad  wanting and forcing any one party to act that way. I just can’t believe anyone, anywhere would want and encourage people to just blindly vote all (D) or all (R) depending on their party and then ridcule and condem anyone when they didn’t.

Besides any of that, this isn’t a one party system, the other side is supposed to help govern also!

This excuse…“Hey, you guys control congress.. it’s not our fault” and those using it are right though, the problem is the next thing they say to their audience, readers, constituents… and the next thing is invariably

“The Democrats need to listen to the country and work bi-partisanly”

In one hand there is a dare to use the majority, in the other.. a crying to all who will listen that if we don’t do something…have rallies, write letters, send in campaign money.. the Democrats will use their majority. It’s insane! They are literally damned  for not using it by the GOP and some of their own and damned  if the think about using it.

So John, what would you have them do? Which ‘evil’ do the Democrats pick?  Do they follow in the last administrations path and issue Executive Orders, recess appointements, signing statements and push through everything the President says to push through no matter the consequence and just hope that the GOP won’t cry about it too much? Do they forget their own values and beliefs and just vote (D) all the way down the ballot like the GOP does and is encouraging, or really, daring them to do? What is your solution to this? When one party refuses to even come to the table don’t they force the other party to act as a single mind? Force the other party to do it all on their own, with their own philosophies?

Maybe the GOP is comfortable using a single-mind, but this is not and has never been the “Democratic” (party or poltical system.) way..

The GOP has blanketed the world with this falsehood that they want bi-partsanship on every issue, and yet just last week when invited to a health care summit, an ‘exachange of ideas’.. quite a few high ranking GOP’ers said they might be willing to come to the table…. just come to the table now, not vote a certain way or concede a certain point,  but they might show up to the President’s bipartisan effort for health reform meeting but only if the  Democrats dropped their health reform idea and adopted the GOP version. Eric Cantor flat out said that the “only way to bipartisan cooperation is if the Democrats fully embrace the GOP plan!” What? How is that bipartisan? How is that anything other than a great big “Screw you, It’s my way or no way and that’s the only bipartisan I agree with.. do it yourself if you don’t like it! Just remember I will blame you for doing it yourself if you do”

You cannot, as the losing party give that kind of demand.. that kind of close-fist demand.. and then claim you are the bipartisan party, yet they do, and no one calls them on it.  So I ask you once again, is this really an OBama failure and where is any ire at the party that is actually holding bipartsianship hostage?

To me President Obama failures are..

He has moved away from a public option. He promised me a public option and I believed him. He has let the message on this and so many other issues get away from him. He had the advantage and he expected to find ‘Statesmen’  and ‘Adults’ in congress who wouldn’t bastardize everything they could to score a political point and while he’s finally decided to come out swingng and get the truth out.. he’s wasted vaulable time and his ‘capitol’ in the interim.

I see it as a failure that he is still giving contracts to the likes of Blackwater and doing it even though we know they are the evil of all evil. Why do we need to privately fund any war with a bunch of mercenaries? Why do we need them for private security? Why can’t we use the money and build up our military and pay our troops more? Atleast they have rules, laws and codes they must follow. Blackwater and the likes do things with our money and in our names that I do not think the majoirty of us want done in our name. I do not agree at all with their continued government funding. Bring the military back to do the jobs in our name with the honor and integrity that they will bring with them.

I see President  Obama’s lack of authority with Wall Street as another failure. He needs to force those CEO’s to either get their sweet-ass to the proverbial ‘come to Jesus’ meeting.. or risk immediate stripping of the ‘handout, even if that means selling off part of the company to get back the money given to them. I don’t know who these people think they are, but when the President of the United States tells you to come to a meeting.. your sorry ‘hand-out-taking’ ass better get there before the ink is dry on the invitations. I don’t care if it was ‘foggy’ or not, take the damn train.

I don’t care about GOP crying that “OBama hates capitalism .. Obama is an enemy to buisness” because it’s  a load of crap, what we had leading up to this meltdown was not capitalism .. it was rape pure and simple. It’s time Obama starts acting like the President he is and do something about these guys.

And finally.. He has failed at installing a new way of doing it, he has failed at starting a new era of bi-partsianship.  He hasn’t failed for the lack of trying, he’s failed for the lack of realism. He believed he could change the climate of hate that is the US congress. Not a single congressman from either house or either party can say or do anything without checking a poll 1st. They are not there to govern like Obama is, they are there for the power and the paycheck. It is President Obama’s failure to not see this that irks me the most. It is his failure to not see that, no matter which way he goes the entire Right side will be against him as proven time and time again, even by adopting their own policies.. they will go against him. They will and have cut off their noses to spite their face.

President Obama is already lambasted as a socialist even when he’s cut taxes and wasn’t the one to create the largest ’socialist program’ in a generation or more. Well,  if they are going to call him one anyway, then why not use that and go more radical on his ideas. We just proved a lot of the country is pro-radical change, even our supreme court is. So it is a failure on Obama’s part not to use the gift he’s been given by the Right. He will be slaughtered and lied about by them no matter what he does.. so he might as well do as he wants.

John, thank you for your comments.. I hope I have addressed them in a way that maybe didn’t change your mind.. but atleast gave you a different point of view and a way to look at it

Telepalmter-gate?

written by ekg
huffingtonpost

huffingtonpost

For $549 a plate, you’d think they could get the old girl some index cards.. I mean sure, she or any GOP member for that matter can’t ever use a teleprompter again after all of their mocking of  Obama’s admitted overuse of them, but are they  really back to 7th grade cheating?

HuffingtonPost

huffingtonpost

ok, here’s the thing… you can’t come out on stage and  one of the 1st things you do is mock the President’s  use of teleprompters  when you’ve got freaking crib-notes written on your hand..  a cheat sheet  for your one-on-one Q & A session. Not if your honest anyway.

We’re past hypocrisy when you do this kind of thing and well into ridiculous and petty!  Not that I mind ridiculous or petty,  it’s the mocking of your betters that bothers me. While I’m at it, what kind of ‘grass-root’ movement charges so much to get into their convention that only the elite of the cream of the crop can get into the convention. $549 a plate? In this economy? If it’s truly as Sarah put it, and not about the money, then why is she making $100,000 off the speech that would cost her ‘real American’ family of four $1400 to get in? That’s just to get in the door, that doesn’t include the flight to get there, or the gas to drive or food and lodging.

Do you think  she understands the irony of this ‘let them eat cake’ atmosphere she’s promoting while calling for another revolution?

Yeah,me either.

As for this idea that these people are the model of conservative? Is it that the Tea-party movement doesn’t care about the truth or that they don’t understand it? While Governor, Palin not only took that money for her bridge to nowhere but she forced oil companies to pay each resident of the state a stipend each year. Don’t get me wrong, I agree with this policy, but since my counter-part calls me a socialist, I would be in agreement with a socialist policy like taking money from private companies and spreading it to the populist. But can you really be a conservative when you take such huge amounts of money from the government  and from the private sector and spread it around to people who didn’t earn it?

If you’re Sarah Palin or a Tea-party member, the answer is yes.  It’s those other socialists and pork-spenders that they don’t like.. the ones with (D) after their name, the ones who elected a black man, the one who is a black man. Oh yeah, that’s something else we learned this weekend, finally the Tea-party movement declared their belief..

[Tom Tancredo]...former Colorado congressman told the first National Tea Party Convention in Nashville this weekend, where he lathered up the crowd with a speech that offered this reason for Obama’s election: “We do not have a civics, literacy test before people can vote in this country.”

Obama was elected, Tancredo said, because of “people who could not even spell the word ‘vote’ or say it in English.”

That’s right, we don’t have literacy tests anymore..you know the tests that kept blacks from voting. But hey, this is a good thing, there is no reason to hide behind a hood anymore Tancredo has de-robed the party and frankly I’m happy for them. think about it, it must be difficult to hide behind your hate that way for fear that if you let it out, people will know you really are racist. From the sounds of the cheers and applause, those waiting for Sarah Palin and listening to Tancredo are also glad to finally drop their mask!

I guess it’s just part and parcel of what we have to look forward to, an entire section of the country who believe Palin is more equipped to run this country over the likes of not just President Obama, but Hilary Clinton and *gasp* John McCain.  I guess as long as she has her cheat-sheet written on the palm of her hand, we’ll be safe when Putin ‘rears his head’.

What do you think the Tea-party group will do when they realize that  she is not like them and she is taking money out of their childrens mouths to not be like them?  It is about the money and fame for her, if it wasn’t she would have donated the money she ‘laundered’ through her PAC back to the Tea-Party cause.  How much more proof do you need in order to believe  she’s as phony as a $3 bill and as sincere as a prostitute. People, she used the money donated to her PAC to buy her own books. On the face of it that’s not to horrible, but when you look at how she received royalties for all those bought and paid for books.. you wonder which mob-boss taught her how to launder money so well. This isn’t the liberal media coming after her for taking donations to the RNC and using it to buy clothes for her and her family, this is a pretty shitty deal she’s pulling on her donors. It’s no wonder some Tea-party member were worried about ‘profiteering’ and the ’scammy’ feeling they were getting from this convention Sarah was headlining. These people are out of work and hurting, her answer is to use their much needed money to buy her book and since she can’t just out right keep their donations,  this is the 2nd best thing.

I feel bad for the real  tea-party member who was sucked into this abyss. I do believe there are people out there who really do want less government spending and intrusion. I believe that for the 1st time in their lives, after mocking the ‘left’ for all of the grass-root protesting, they finally got up their own moxie and listened to the hoopla Foxnews was spewing to  them and backed the party that they thought was the real deal. These people are about to be disillusion more than they ever were before and for them I am sorry. I only hope they wise up to the scammy-ness of where their party is going. I know these people don’t like the ‘Harvard educated’ elite, and the idea of a Nobel being awarded to a President is akin to treason,  but is this really the person you want at the next G8  summit?

HuffingtonPost asks 2 great questions on this cheating issue..

This would mean:

A) That she knew the questions beforehand and the whole thing was a farce. (Likely.)

and

B) That she still couldn’t answer the previously agreed-upon questions without a little extra help.

I don’t know, but I don’t like either answer. One proves she’s a hack and not only does she and the promoters of the convention know it but they’re doing everything in their power to make you sure never find out, and the other proves she’s an idiot. Regardless of the spin, neither prove she’s capable of commenting on politics, much less running a country.

At the end of the day the ‘true believers’ will not believe even what their eyes show them and their ears tell them. Ironically it was not us Obama-phytes who drank the koolaid, it is the Palin/Tea Party supporters.  Obama-phytes didn’t believe he was a bastard son who was really born in Africa, because we didn’t we were called pod-people, I should know, I called them that.  But anyone who says Sarah Palin is a real Conservative, is really smart, is really capable of running this country over the likes of even John McCain..stay away from them because that is your pod-person. That is the Jim Jones follower and like those poor souls, these are just as dangerous. They will do everything in their power to elect this woman to the Presidency of the United States even if it’s forcing her poison down throats of every “real” American and real conservative in this country. I don’t believe all members of the Tea-party movement are as race-hating as those who Sarah Palin read her hand to, but if the ones who aren’t don’t stand up and renounce her and this kind of call for the good old days of Jim Crow, they might as well be.

…without waterboarding?

written by ekg

Huh, would you look at that..

Washington (CNN) — Senior Obama administration officials revealed late Tuesday they’ve secretly gained the cooperation of family members of Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab to help get the Christmas Day airline bomb suspect talking.
The cooperation effort has led to actionable intelligence that could help prevent terror attempts on U.S. soil, the senior officials said.

No torture, no waterboard,no stress positions,no violation of human rights or our own laws… and he’s actually talking and without a military tribunal to boot!

The senior administration officials said that since AbdulMutallab began talking to investigation again last week, he has been cooperating on a daily basis. The officials added the information gained from the interrogations has been disseminated throughout the intelligence community.

One of the senior Obama officials, who bluntly said the Republican attacks have “frustrated the hell out of me,” asserted that gaining the trust of the family was the best way to handle the case and helped the administration gain valuable intelligence from the suspect, who is believed to have ties to an al Qaeda affiliate in Yemen.

“It could be used to disrupt other attacks,” one of the senior Obama officials said of the intelligence gleaned from AbdulMutallab in the interrogations, who added the president has been getting regular updates on what the suspect has been revealing.

The Republican response so far is to complain that President Obama has wasted these 6 weeks, but let’s have some truth for once shall we…

U.S. military teams and intelligence agencies are deeply involved in secret joint operations with Yemeni troops who in the past six weeks have killed scores of people, among them six of 15 top leaders of a regional al-Qaeda affiliate, according to senior administration officials.

The operations, approved by President Obama and begun six weeks ago, involve several dozen troops from the U.S. military’s clandestine Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), whose main mission is tracking and killing suspected terrorists. The American advisers do not take part in raids in Yemen, but help plan missions, develop tactics and provide weapons and munitions. Highly sensitive intelligence is being shared with the Yemeni forces, including electronic and video surveillance, as well as three-dimensional terrain maps and detailed analysis of the al-Qaeda network.

I know some were worried about AbdulMutallab being mirandized and like John McCain, were trying to attack for Eric Holder for his decision and I guess prosecute him for treason(ok, not the treason part-or are they) but it looks like they can put those feary-tales to bed.

“It is also my understanding that Mr. Abdulmutallab has provided valuable information. Is that correct?” Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein asked.

“Yes,” Mueller replied.

Mueller then confirmed that the interrogation has continued despite the fact that the suspect had been advised of his right to have a lawyer and remain silent.

Now this is something I also found to be of interest

Since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, politicians and the courts have wrangled with the thorny question of how to treat suspected terrorists. The Supreme Court has not weighed in on whether the government has the right to hold a civilian as a military prisoner, and both times it appeared the court would get the chance to decide, President George W. Bush opted instead to bring the cases in civilian criminal courts

George Bush was hard on terror; he, Dick Cheney and those like them are the only ones who can keep us safe. President Obama, following their plan makes us look weak to our enemies though and thus makes us more vulnerable to attacks. How does that work?

The fact is we have a 100% success rate in trying terrorists in civilian court and as far as I know the only ones walking around and back to their old tricks, are walking around because Dick Cheney released them! We’ve killed or captured more terrorist leaders under Obama’s 1st year than we did in the last year of Bush. We’ve had more ‘drone-launched missile strikes’ in President Obama’s 1st year than in Bush’s last 3 years. We are spending more money to “expand secretive Special Operations units, deploy more unmanned aerial drones” , but somehow it’s not good enough because President OBama doesn’t torture, because he doesn’t throw everyone into a military tribunal, because he  treats people as the laws this country was founded on tell him to treat people, so  he is still weak on terrorism. If anything, the increased drones attacks, increased terrorist casualties, successful interrogation of a  terrorist should prove that not only is he not weak on terrorism, but that he’s doing something pretty right.

Alas… like the elusive Osama Bin Laden tape that surfaces only after some major event has happened, I expect a carefully worded press release from the most elusive of all creatures, Dick Cheney. Fox news and the conservative blogosphere need something to come after Mr. Obama on since he ate them for lunch at the GOP retreat last week, coupled with this new information on the lack of torturing actually working and Cheney is probably being roused from his slumber now.

I don’t expect anyone from  the right to commend the President for a job well done, that would be ridiculous and let’s face it, the halfhearted attempt would come out more condescending than anything else. The GOP for all it’s glory has painted themselves into a corner. In their quest to dismiss this President, they have painted him as a weak, incompetent, unintelligent, lying, dangerous,socialistic,Nazi-like, thief looking to steal your money to give it to the poor and your guns to give them to the Muslims.  I’m sure there is something to nit-pick about and if not, they can take a page out of a GOP strategists memo and just lie, but I thought this was a pretty good job of getting the guy to talk without having to drown him 1st.

“The Taliban can save us alot of legal hassles and legal bills” .. are you kidding me?

written by ekg

After visiting Howie in what I thought would be a discussion on hot boys and massage oil… I am almost too pissed to speak.. Video’s from Howie’s Updated post on Pfc Bowe Bergdahl have me blinded by rage at the moment.

Portrait of the fallen Cpl Patrick Tillman, a ...
Image via Wikipedia

No one in the military is defending this guy?  This guy who wears an American soldiers uniform, who fought in a war for America.. who is a fucking American for God’s sake.. and No one in the military is defending him? While Fox News is having the guest ask the Taliban to take care of our problems for us to save us money?

This jerk-off says that in a warzone, at night any solider is aware of where his buddy’s are? And that proves this private was a liar?  Why doesn’t this shameful shell of a wannabe war commander ask Pat Tillman about how a soldier always knows where his buddies are in a warzone at night- oops, I guess we can’t ask Pat Tillman since he was killed by his buddies in at night, in a warzone.

Who does this fucking asshole think he is doing besmirching  any service-member on the news and calling for his death by terrorists to save us money? And what the fuck is Fox news doing reporting it not just once, and I’ll give the 1st interviewer some credit for being shocked and not wanting to jump to any of this scum bag’s propaganda.. but what are they doing by having the asshat on again and agreeing with him

This is the way we support our troops? This is the American standard here? Bill O’Reilly should be shamed and shunned ala Jane Fonda.

How can anybody out there, whether the circumstance surrounding his capture are true or not, how can anybody look in the camera and devalue an American solider.. fuck that.. an AMERICAN life this way in a time of war. How do you say, “The Taliban can save us alot of legal hassles and legal bills” and how in the happy hell does no one staple you to a pole in the city center? We are going bat-shit crazy over the President calling a stupid situation.. stupid.. but calling for a terrorist act to be committed on one of our own, a solider in our military during a time of war no less, to be murdered is ignore and somehow… news?

The late Daniel Pearl
Image via Wikipedia

Let me say it like this.. I don’t give a proper fuck if Pfc Bowe Bergdahl walked away, danced away, or was lead away under the guise of getting a piece of ass in the desert.. I don’t care if he’s given up every state secret he knows.. John McCain lasted how long before he gave up everything he knew?.. I don’t care if he tells a hundred propaganda lies while being video-taped by the same people who might have held the camera while Daniel Pearl gave his final video message before they beheaded him. I simply don’t care what this kid did to get captured or has to do to stay alive while in the hands of an enemy who shows no quarter for any man, woman or child.. He is a soldier, he is an American, he is in enemy hands and you will by fuck respect that.  If your mother didn’t teach you that, if your drill sergeant didn’t teach you that.. then maybe you should  take  Bergdahl’s place and show him how it’s really done.

Fox news and Lt. Col Peters,  you might leave your soldiers behind, you might ask terrorists to murder your soldiers because that would make great and riveting news and increased viewership ratings for you..But the real America doesn’t do that..

If this is the conservative way I hope you are as relevant as the Whigs and hurry and go the way of the dodo, because 1st and foremost this liberal knows we get our man back and everything else after that is secondary…

Fox news..you are .. disgusting

**Update**

It’s about damn time…

Jim Miklaszewski, NBC’s Pentagon correspondent, told Maddow on Wednesday night that Bergdahl “came off patrol on June 30th, dropped off his weapon, his body armor, grabbed up a bottle of water, a compass and a knife and took off out on his own. It was sometime after that, apparently, that some local militants grabbed him and turned him over to the Taliban.”

“Should he have left the post alone?” Miklaszewski asked. “Of course not. But that doesn’t make him a deserter.”

He continued: “Military officials I talked to are quite outraged at Peters’ comments, not just the idea perhaps that he suggested that the Taliban should execute Bergdahl, but because it’s totally irresponsible. Here you have a kid, 23-years-old, in custody. He’s got to be terrified. And now, these Peters comments could actually be used by his captors to get even deeper inside Bergdahl’s mind and further erode any confidence that he may have that he will ever come out alive.”

Sarah’s blaze of glory.. who is to blame?

written by ekg

This whole Sarah Palin thing irks the hell out of me and not for the reasons you would think. All of a sudden I find myself feeling sorry for her and the attention paid to her over the last few months and it bothers the hell of out of me to feel sorry for the woman…

I do not blame the MSM or Dave Letterman though for the attention paid to her though… I blame Bush..

huh?

oops, sorry.. after 8 years it’s just a force of habit!

But seriously, I blame John McCain and Sarah Palin’s hubris.

I cannot for the life of me fathom the thought process that went through John McCain’s heads and ended up producing the statement “I choose Sarah Palin as my Vice Presidential running mate”… and the thoughts that must have gone through his head saying “..and no body will question who she is, where she comes from, her political history, her family dirt, her sanity..or mine, because she just so darn pretty”

On what planet did either of them really think an absolute 100% no name… could run, with an amazing chance at success at becoming the 1st woman Vice President.. and not a single person in the world wouldn’t say.. “Hey, who’s the new girl?”

Mike was right when he said “The amount of poor and incorrect information on this woman is frankly incredible.” Of course he’s talking about  me, Howie and the MSM for this.. but it was not us who thrust this already, damaged flower onto the open market and demanded that she be accepted as leader of our country in the event of a Presidential disaster all because she and John McCain said so. As if that wasn’t enough, then she opened her mouth and we truly had reasons to fear.

But, were we ‘unfair’ to her.. or were her expectation of unconditional acceptance  to blame for the eventual melt-down. .. yeah, I don’t care what planet your from.. No one term govenor of an extremely large state, who ran for VP and almost won, can decide to quit their office with 2 years left in her term.. and not be seen as the antithesis of a leader on a Presidential scale. When stared down by what she calls an unfair Mainstream media, she blinked.. and blinked hard. What happens during the next cuban missle crisis while she’s President? So yes, it was a melt down.

But are we to blame or does she have a major stake in that arena?

In a campaign where even the Democratic leader’s birth certificate and religion was being eviscerated on television, blogs, papers ,pundits and me all across the land on and hourly basis.. What gave Palin or McCain the idea that she could be launched on the Presidential landscape 6 weeks before the election.. and no one would want to know who the fuck she was? Oh My God, Sotomayor’s entire adult life going back decades are being vetted before we can even have the debate as to whether we should appoint her to the Supreme Court, but we were just supposed to say “Oh, Sarah Palin.. yeah, Ok.. sure-we don’t really need to know jack-shit about the person who will be a heartbeat away from the Presidency”

No, I do not find the MSM as the culprit for all her troubles.. In fact, I think the MSM should be awarded a medal for weeding out a person who was not only unprepared for the spot-light.. but also  exquisitely unprepared for the pressure that would come with the office she was asking to be trusted with.  Had she actually been elected.. well, that’s a nightmare that I am glad I don’t have to witness…

Sarah Palin only has Sarah Palin and John McCain to blame for her larger than life launch onto the full court world press to her eventually crashing and burning. It was not a pretty launch on to the political field to begin with and it was bound to be an even uglier crash.

The Mainstream media did it’s job this time.. they did it at an breakneck pace to be sure.. but only because they were forced to by two people who thought they could sneak an incompetent by because maybe this country wasn’t as ready for a black man named Hussein as their opponents thought.

Vindication… sweet, sweet vindication! Good bye Sara Palin…

written by ekg

Many moons ago I wrote  a blog  about Sarah Palin and her ties with AIP, the Alaskan Independent Party, whose sole mission in life is to secede from the union and become their own country.

President Palin do you do solemnly swear that you will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of your Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States?

Sure, it could happen. John McCain isn’t as young and healthy as he once was. Chances of him becoming incapacitated or dying while in office are exponentially increased because of his age. I’m not saying anything that we all haven’t thought. So yes, President Palin could be standing along Pennsylvania Ave with her hand on the bible taking the oath of office and leading this country with all her wisdom and vast political experience, before any of us, including and especially her, are ready for it.

The right wants to point to the fact that this is a make-believe fairy tale. They counter that there is also a chance that McCain will live and she will learn while on the job, but Barack, well Barack will be the one who is actually in driver seat on day one if he gets elected.

Fair enough. I can’t argue that.

Palin is the only one on either ticket who actually Governed.

Fair enough. I can’t argue that.

It’s also fair enough that Palin is a beautiful, charming, no nonsense, tough as nails woman who took on her own party when she saw corruption. By all accounts she’s a down to earth, full-on red-blooded American sweetheart. A true-blue patriotic American sweetheart who was once part of a party that since 1970, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaska to secede from the nation.

Whoa… Whoa.. Whoa…… What?!?

The Alaskan Independence Party (AIP) is a party that was founded by a goldminer who was fiercely proud of his state, doesn’t want to be buried under the American flag and wants Alaska to secede from the United States. From October 1995 through July 2002 Todd, Palin’s husband, was a member of AIP. In 1994 Sarah Palin was also a member and they of even attended the state wide AIP convention in her hometown of Wasilla.

Now that’s my kind of patriot. That’s the person I want standing on the lawn of the White House, in a pretty dress-suit, with her beautiful family surrounding her and looking on as she takes the oath of office. I wonder how that works though. Is she taking the oath of office for this country? Or for the country the AIP wants to create when Alaskan leaves the Union.

The man who founded the Alaskan Independence Party, Joe Vogler had this to say about America

“I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions.” …

“The fires of Hell are glaciers compared to my hate for the American government.”

AIP’s leader is also on record as saying that members “must infiltrate the other two party’s” and “push for ‘Alaskan independence‘”. Well, I guess you can check that off the “To do” List.

If Jeremiah White’s words and actions painted Obama as unpatriotic, then what does the Palin’s own action paint her as?

There are other things in Palin’s past that are sure to come out in the coming days. But with the allegations of her abuse of power, her teenage daughter pregnancy and marriage, her ultra-short time in office, the republicans have been stripped of running on experience, family values, ethics and now patriotism. How can they give any speech on any of these issues with Palin waiting in the wings?

On the other side is a controversy that if proven could rock the chance of Obama to enter the White House. On the Republican side, the Vice Presidential candidate was a member of a group that doesn’t want or even like, the United States of America.

Only in America..

To be fair, The McCain camp has since denied this whole thing. But of course they would have to. Imagine the judgment issues had he not known about this and the teen pregnancy issue. Of course he is the maverick, maybe he did know about both and went for it anyway.

But whether he knew about it or not, AIP members do know and they say that the McCain campaign pushback that Pain was never part of the AIP is “hooey.” and “..like a cat covering up crap in its litter box”

It will be disputed whether she was an actual member or not. Since her husband was for 7 years though, does it make it any better if she wasn’t? It didn’t matter that it was Barack’s pastor who said those awful things. His judgement and his patriotism were called into question for his association with Rev Wright. So can we use this against Sara Palin the same way? In and of itself, I don’t think so. My husband and I have very different political views so I wouldn’t want to be judged by his. But we also have her judgment for not supporting those explicit sex-ed programs. For not supporting abortion even in the extreme case of rape or incest, and then bad judgment call of trying to get her low-life brother in law fired when she became governor.

In and of themselves, none of those things are enough to disqualify her from the 2nd most powerful job in the world. But taken as a whole… they should give one pause. The also all beg to question, if John McCain knew about all of this, what was he thinking and if he didn’t, why the hell not! If he would put such a person on his ticket who the MSM has uncovered more dirt on in the last 5 days than they were able to for the last 18 months on Barack, why in the hell would anyone trust him to run the oval office? How could you trust any person he would pick to serve at his pleasure?

We had a maverick in office who put people in jobs as he saw fit, whether they were qualified or not and we saw how that work out, (heck of a job, Brownie)… So do we really want another one?

What a bizarre political crossroad we find ourselves at this year.

Back then, everyone from the McCain camp to posters on the muchedumbre politikal gossip  forum argued that this was simply not true, Sarah was not part of the party and even if her husband was.. it didn’t really mean anything…

“Clearly irritated by what he saw as Palin’s

attempt to mislead her own campaign”

Today, victory is mine and Howie’s.. for we tried to tell those who wear blinders that while Obama was wrong to socialize and sit in a church with the likes of Rev Wright preaching to him, he atleast condemned Wright when confronted with evidence of his hate-speech… but when sweet, sweet Sara’s dark history was found… well, she ordered the McCain camp to lie about it…

Pls get in front of that ridiculous issue that’s cropped up all day today – two reporters, a protestor’s sign, and many shout-outs all claiming Todd’s involvement in an anti-American political party,” Palin wrote. “It’s bull, and I don’t want to have to keep reacting to it … Pls have statement given on this so it’s put to bed.”

Palin said in an email to McCain campaign’s chief strategist, Steve Schmidt., obtained by CBS News. Schmidt replied “Ignore it.. He was a member of the aip? My understanding is yes. That is part of their platform. Do not engage the protestors. If a reporter asks say it is ridiculous. Todd loves america.”
Yes, he loves America as much as anyone who wishes to secede from it does..

“Palin was attempting to bend the facts

ever so slightly to fit neatly into her version of events…”

Anyway, this is where is gets good..Sarah wasn’t happy with  a lowly presidential campaign’s chief strategist telling her what to do, and to make sure he knew who was boss the Diva CC’d her replies to her own people in the hopes of showing who was really the boss.. She wanted McCain’s people to fix what her husband had been a part of for 7 years .

from CBS.Com

“That’s not part of their platform and he was only a ‘member’ bc independent alaskans too often check that ‘Alaska Independent’ box on voter registrations thinking it just means non partisan,” Palin wrote. “He caught his error when changing our address and checked the right box. I still want it fixed.”

Palin was attempting to bend the facts ever so slightly to fit neatly into her version of events. In truth, the box that Alaskans have the option of checking when registering to vote states the full name of the party, “Alaskan Independence Party,” not “Alaska Independent,” which would make an error by uncommitted voters more plausible.

Clearly irritated by what he saw as Palin’s attempt to mislead her own campaign and apparently determined to demonstrate that the ultimate authority rested with him, Schmidt put the matter to rest once and for all with a longer response to everyone in the e-mail chain.

“Secession,” he wrote. “It is their entire reason for existence. A cursory examination of the website shows that the party exists for the purpose of seceding from the union. That is the stated goal on the front page of the web site. Our records indicate that todd was a member for seven years. If this is incorrect then we need to understand the discrepancy. The statement you are suggesting be released would be innaccurate. The innaccuracy would bring greater media attention to this matter and be a distraction. According to your staff there have been no media inquiries into this and you received no questions about it during your interviews. If you are asked about it you should smile and say many alaskans who love their country join the party because it speeks to a tradition of political independence. Todd loves his country

We will not put out a statement and inflame this and create a situation where john has to adress this.”

Ahh yes.. when your spouse says this is the 1st time in her adult life that she’s proud to be an American.. well that makes you a terrorist who hates your country.. but when your husband is a member of a party who’s founder really did hate America and the party wants to secede from the Union.. and you want other, more powerful than you to cover that tid-bit up.. that makes you nothing but a good ole’ hockey mom without a shred of any American, real or other wise, values.

She since has now resigned can we please drop this woman from our vocabulary ?
